BURGER BUNS RECIPE/scones
Ingredients for Burger bun recipe/scones
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active yeast (1 envelope)
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 large egg
- 3 Tablespoons butter, melted
- 2 Tablespoons white sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- vegetable oil (for brushing bowl and dough)
- 1 cup of milk
INSTRUCTIONS:
1.Stir together yeast,sugar and warm water in the large bowl
2.Take another bowl and add some flour and start adding your ingredients like the melted butter, egg, sugar and salt, milk and the yeast mixture.
3.Start kneading by hand until smooth and elastic.
-Measure elasticity of the dough by poke a finger into the centre of the dough , the hole should remain and the dough should not spring back.
4.Form dough into a ball and brush lightly with oil. Place in a lightly oiled bowl and let rise for about 2 hours
-When it looks like this. The dough will have doubled in size.
5. Cut the dough into bun-sized pieces and Slightly flatten the balls with the palm of you hand, and cover them back up to rise again for about 1 hour
6. Gently brush the risen buns with egg white.
7.Heat oven to 375°F and Bake the risen buns for 15-17 minutes, or until golden brown. Cool. If you aren't going to use the buns within 2 days, freeze leftovers.
