MTORI RECIPE~ BANANA SOUP


Mtori is a banana based soup originated in the foothills of Kilimanjaro, Tanzania, the chagga land.


INGREDIENTS FOR MTORI RECIPE
  • 1 kg of beef pieces with bones 
  • (unripe) Plantain bananas{ndizi bukoba/matoke 8 & mshare/mnyenyere 3}
  • 1 large potato(optional)
  • 1 large onion, 1 large bell pepper, 1 carrot.
  • Blueband/tanbond 3 tablespoon
  • Salt to taste  
DIRECTIONS ON HOW TO COOK MTORI


  • Put beef pieces in a pot of water (enough water to cover all the meat) and boil until cooked,
 Then remove the meat from heat, remove the meat from soup.



  • Peel bananas and chop, cut into pieces and wash


  • Put a banana in a water pan and salt, Sprinkle onions , carrot and bell pepper and add them to a banana pan.
  • Boil until bananas are tender, Regularly check and stir the plantains to make sure they are tender enough.
  • Remove the boiled plantains from heat, then Crush/blend the banana with hand while adding the meat soup, to soften it.
  • Add blueband/tanbond while crushing the banana, Add more soup until the desired consistency, Add the meat in mtori.

Serve mtori with lime and pepper.
