You can Use Condensed milk to sweeten your beverages, desserts, and toast.Also, Sweetened condensed milk can be used as an Ingredient in making ICECREAM.
MAKING SWEETENED CONDENSED MILK USING FRESH MILK
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 litre of Fresh milk
- 1 cup granulated sugar - (or use brown sugar / honey)
- 1 tablespoon butter/Blue band siagi (Optional - to thicken the milk)
- Vanilla extract
Instructions:
1.Put the milk and sugar into heavy bottomed saucepan and Boil it over a low heat, while stirring slowly.
-Boil it on a low heat intil sugar has dissolved, then reduce the heat more and let it boil for about 35-40 minutes, until the volume of milk is reduced by half.
2. Stir for every 15 minutes or so to avoid the milk from forming the "skin" on top.
3. After 1 hour, stir in butter and vanilla
4. This is what's supposed to look like
5. Remove the saucepan from heat and let the milk cool.The mixture will thicken further after it has completely cooled.And can be READY TO USE.
6. Store condensed milk in airtight container and put in the fridge, and it will last for weeks.(If you don't need to use it right away)
So, save your money and time by making this sweetened condensed milk at home.
NOTE:Condensed milk tend to thicken when it cools down (when it gets cold)
In that case,mix well and store it in the fridge.
