Ingredients
For The Cake
- 2 1/2 cups Cake flour
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda & vinegar 1 teaspoon.
- 3 tablespoons cocoa powder
- ½ cup butter (unsalted)
- 4 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 1 cup buttermilk (made by adding 1 tbsp of lemon juice or white vinegar to the 1 cup of milk stir and let it sit for 5 mins then use)
- 2 tablespoons liquid red food coloring
For Vanilla Icing/Frosting
- 6 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 or 2 cups milk
- 2 cups (4 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cups powdered sugar/icing sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Prepare the cake pans and heat the oven:Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

- Mix in the vinegar and baking soda: Combine the vinegar and baking soda in a small bowl,it will fizz up,Add the mixture immediately to the cake batter.
- Mix the batter well: Continue mixing the batter for an additional 3 minutes after adding the baking soda mixture.
- Bake the Cake: Pour the batter into the prepared sheet cake pan. Use a large offset spatula or knife to even out the surface. Bake for 20 minutes

Cool the Cake:Remove the pan from the oven and allow the cake to cool in the pan,Cool completely for 15 mins before frosting/icing.

- -Combine the flour, salt, and 3/4 cup milk in a saucepan and whisk until smooth.
- -Then whisk in the remaining milk. Cook over medium heat until thickened, whisking occasionally. Remove from the heat, transfer to a bowl, and cool completely.

- -Beat the butter and sugar in a large bowl with an electric mixer until smooth and creamy.
- MIX THEM ALL: Add the vanilla, butter sugar mixture into the cooled milk mixture. Beat until well combined,creamy and smooth.Cover and refrigerate for 15 minutes.Use immediately
