Yummy Meat pie Recipe




Ingredients for meat pie:


 Wheat flour4 cups or 500g
Baking Powder1 tsp
Water1 cup
Ground Beef1/2 kg
Eggs (Large)4
Carrots (cubed)2 cups
Onion (medium)1
Ginger (ground)1 tsp
Beef masala (curry powder)
SaltTo taste (roughly 1/2 tsp)
Crushed  pepper1-2 tbsp
Butter2 cups

STEP 1:
Making the dough
  • Add the flour in a  dry bowl with the baking powder with a pinch of salt. Mix thoroughly to ensure even distribution of the baking powder.
  • Mix in the butter by rubbing the flour and butter together with the tips of your fingers. 

  • Whisk 3 of the eggs and add into the flour along with small amount of  water/milk 

-Put the dough in bowl cover then put in the fridge for 30 mins, while preparing the meat

Step 2: Preparation of ground beef for meat pie:

  1. 1.Start cooking the ground beef (No oil needed) until it starts to brown. About 2-3 mins.
    • Once the meat starts to cook (should change color from red to brown), add the ginger,  salt, pepper, curry powder. Cook another 5 mins to allow the meat season thoroughly. Stir continuously.
    1. -Stir in the onions and carrots and cook for another 2 – 3 mins. (You can add the onions in the previous step if you want it to cook more)
    2. Ground beef is ready!
    3. FILLING THE PIE
    4. -Take the dough out from fridge, cut few pieces using the knife, then make small balls.
    5. -Take a ball of the dough and roll out on a floured board taking care to not roll it out too thin or too thick. DO NOT KNEAD
    6. -Use a circular shaped cutter to cut into the rolled dough.  
    7.       
    8. -Add the filling (ground beef) to the middle of the cut piece. Brush round the edges with a beaten egg or just water
    9.  
    10. -Fold the dough over the filling and press the edges firmly together using a fork
      • Repeat till you have used up all the dough.

      Baking the Meat Pie:
      • Line your baking tray with foil paper and spray with a non-stick cooking oil
      • Separate an egg white from its yolk and brush the top of all pies with the yolk (glazing).
      • Bake the pies at 335F or 170C for 35-40 mins or until golden brown
    11. Serve warm!
